So I took :TraditionalDanimatio: 's Flash drawrin' tutorial and I must say, it really helped me out. If you're interested, peep it out here: [link]
This is a drawing of my bud [link] for an upcoming flash project we're workin on. Left is my Alias version, Right is my flash tracing. Everything from the goatee to the hat, to the ear, etc. is its own symbol for maximum animation control. I think it ended up being a compiled 12 symbols.
